Kids & teens lessons FAQ
What ages are kids and teens lessons for?
Ages 6 to 15. Younger children (2–5) have their own toddler lessons, and swimmers 16 and up book adult lessons. Inside 6–15 your child is placed by skill in the first lesson, not by age.
Can siblings or friends share a lesson?
Yes. Two swimmers aged 6–15 in one semi-private time each pay $39.99 + HST per lesson, and your first weekly time is full price. Every weekly time you add after that, a 2nd lesson per week for the same swimmer, or a sibling, partner or friend joining with their own time, gets its first lesson free. That is $45.19 off per extra time for semi-private, or $73.44 for private, HST included. Two swimmers at 2 lessons per week saves three lessons; three swimmers at 3 lessons per week saves eight ($361.51). Add-on times need 4 or more lessons. If you enroll one child on their own, we match them with another swimmer from the 6–15 group.
How long until my child can swim?
Every child is different, so we do not promise a number of lessons. What is different at Apex is the setup: one instructor with your child (or your child and one other) for the full 30 minutes, the same instructor every week, and every skill signed off on your progress page as it is mastered, so you can see exactly where your child is after each lesson.
My teen never learned to swim, is it awkward?
No. Teens learn one-on-one or with a friend of their choosing, never in a class of younger children, and the plan starts wherever they are.
Do parents stay?
You are welcome to. There is deck seating beside the pool, so you can watch every lesson; older kids and teens are often happy to be dropped off.
What should we bring?
A swimsuit, towel and goggles. Showers and change rooms are on site, and towels are provided for students.
When are kids and teens lessons?
Fall Season lessons run Sunday 12:00 – 3:00 PM and Monday to Thursday 5:00 – 8:00 PM at 5100 Satellite Drive, Mississauga. The season is 8 weeks; you pick 1, 2 or 3 weekly times and keep them for the season.
What if my child hates the first lesson?
If you don't love your first lesson, tell us within 24 hours and we refund the whole season.
